Lauren's DIY All Purpose Cleaner made with Essential Oils

Spring cleaning comes on like an itch. As the sunshine lingers a little longer I notice the boots piled up in my hall closet, scarves billowing on clothing hooks, and the general disorder of drawers, cabinets, and shelves. And it all starts to irk me. I'm easily distracted. The dirt on the outdoor furniture keeps teasing me.

A teacher recently told me, “Lakshmi only visits a clean house.” Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, good fortune and beauty. Her powers transform dreams to reality. I created a DIY all purpose cleaner with essential oils to anoint my home and invite Lakshmi to visit. Spraying my house from floor to ceiling and pouring this mixture on my cement floors, then wiping it all down with a towel has taken on a ritualistic experience.

This is not to say that I don’t need a little motivation. Our LAPS spring playlist has been keeping my booty in motion.

Bottles of ingredients
Here's what you'll need to make the spray. I think these are the best essential oils for cleaning, but use whichever you like.
Vodka- I like this better than rubbing alcohol. The smell isn't as intense.
White vinegar (any kind works though)
Hydrogen peroxide
Cedarwood essential oil - relaxing and comforting
Eucalyptus essential oil -antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal. Keeps the bugs away.
Lemongrass essential oil - antibacterial, antiviral
Spray bottle
I don't have an exact recipe but its something like this:
1/2 c vodka
1 cup hydrogen peroxide
1/2 c vinegar
20 drops Cedarwood essential oils
30 drops eucalyptus
30 drops lemongrass
Use for cleaning the floors, sinks, bath, countertops, shelves. Smells like Spring.
